We hit the highway at midnight after a frustratingly long day at the office bound for the top end. Rain beat down upon the roof of our van as we stopped for a few hours’ sleep and when we woke the rain continued with little hope of seeing sunrise. We contemplated sleeping in and capturing sunset instead but our decision to get back on the highway paid off. . Mist hovering around the hilltops caught its light as for just a few minutes the sun shone through the rain.

Lightning struck and rain teamed down as we continued on, blessed that the sky had miraculously opened long enough for me to capture the beauty.
