When storm clouds gather
No matter how bad life gets I’ve made up my mind…. to worship the one who can turn my situation around because in worship I take my eyes of me and focus on the one who can turn everything around.
Jesus died for our sins and went all the way to hell and back so we won’t have to! And all we need to do, to get in on all the benefits a relationship with Jesus offers is to simply trust him like a child and accept Him – that’s more than enough reason for worship.
But after we accept Him it’s so easy when troubles come for us to feel sorry for ourselves. It is even easier to quit and give up. But in the midst of it all, when we set our minds on worship, we take our eyes off us and onto the one who has the answer to everything. Its easy to be distracted by events around us that take our eyes of the one that can transform that situation and we can often want to give up. But despite what’s going on remember, Jesus Christ is waiting with the solution to every trial we face.
When we continue to focus on our troubles even after we’ve prayed about them, we tie the hands of God because He won’t operate on our behalf until we stop and let Him. But when we worship Him in spite of it all that’s going on we acknowledge Jesus as the one we need, opening the door for Him to help us and He for all that He’s done for us, so deserves our praise.
Here’s John’s account of what he saw in a vision. This is what goes on before the throne In heaven:
Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me with the sound of a mighty trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after these things.” And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it!
The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones — jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow.
Twenty-four thrones surrounded him, and twenty-four elders sat on them. They were all clothed in white and had gold crowns on their heads.
And from the throne came flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder. And in front of the throne were seven lamp stands with burning flames. They are the seven spirits of God.
In front of the throne was a shiny sea of glass, sparkling like crystal. In the centre and around the throne were four living beings, each covered with eyes, front and back.
The first of these living beings had the form of a lion; the second looked like an ox; the third had a human face; and the fourth had the form of an eagle with wings spread out as though in flight.
Each of these living beings had six wings, and their wings were covered with eyes, inside and out. Day after day and night after night they keep on saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty — the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come.”
Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne, the one who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one who lives forever and ever. And they lay their crowns before the throne and say, “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created everything, and it is for your pleasure that they exist and were created.”
Wow! If heaven is filled with worship and I’m destined to live there one day, its also important that I worship Jesus and give Him His rightful place in my life! If you want to continue reading about John’s Revelation, click here
Listen as Wess Morgan ( ‘Under An Open Heaven’) beautifully sings about his desire to worship and so easy to open our hearts and enter into worship with him.
And this Bible verse leaves nothing to our imagination when it says:
Mark this: Unless you accept God’s kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you’ll never get in. Luke 18:17
