Are You The One?

As I studied this photo I captured at sunset on Cable Beach WA Australia this afternoon I noticed one person turned to watch the beauty as the sun slipped away.

When we’re distracted by the events and cares around us it’s easy to forget simple blessings all around us and I’m always joyful when someone notices what God is doing and looking at this person I was reminded of a Bible story.

If the Lord cured you of an incurable disease would you thank Him right? But here’s an account of people who forgot to….

It happened that as Jesus made his way toward Jerusalem, He crossed over the border between Samaria and Galilee. As He entered a village, ten men, all lepers, met him. They kept their distance but raised their voices, calling out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

Taking a good look at them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.”

They went, and while still on their way, became clean. One of them, when he realised that he was healed, turned around and came back, shouting his gratitude, glorifying God. He kneeled at Jesus’ feet, so grateful. He couldn’t thank him enough—and he was a Samaritan.

Jesus said, “Were not ten healed? Where are the nine? Can none be found to come back and give glory to God except this outsider?” Then he said to him, “Get up. On your way. Your faith has healed and saved you.”
Luke 17:11-19

I’m sure they all meant well. They probably couldn’t wait to rush home to share the good news with their family and friends….
Jesus made an interesting comment when He was heckled by the religious leaders of the day when people were thanking Him…

As he rode along, the crowds spread out their garments on the road ahead of him. When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.

“Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the Lord!
Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!”
But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, “Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!”

He replied, “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!”
I will never tire of saying thank you for the beauty all around me and for the way God accepts me with all my faults and willingly welcomes me back when I’ve gone astray.
Luke 19:36-40

This song by Andre Crouch says it all – My tribute:

The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. Psalm 34:19

How about you? Though we take it for granted and forget to appreciate Him, God continues to create beauty all around us each day. Have you acknowledged Him lately?
