In Our Weakness, We Can Be Strong!

Our country has faced many weather events in the past few months that have left us powerless to turn things around. We’re reminded how very small we are in the scheme of things. And what we build is only fragile at best when a natural disaster comes through, with homes full of treasures raised to the ground and vehicles, livestock and sometimes even lives are lost.

Wildfires, tsunamis, cyclones, torrential rain, floods, mudslides, thunder, lightning, hail, earthquakes, volcanos and extreme drought always get our attention, making us wonder what to do. Some things, we will never be able to contain, no matter how we try. They make us face the fact that we are powerless to bring about change.

Though in our weakness we believe we are strong, we will never outdo our need for assistance in time of need.

This illustration reminds us how valuable trees are. We rightly should nurture and care for them.

But trees with no means of escape stand in the midst of wildfires and face their peril, then before long, they begin to sprout again as our land is restored.

That’s the difference between what we, the created ones make, and the infallible creation of God. What we make crumbles amidst calamity. What the God of the Universe makes continues to recreate and multiply, even after a catastrophe. It’s because we live in a world of complete order.

Like trees though, we’re also here for a purpose! And your purpose is uniquely different to my purpose, but both are equally important. Our reason for being!

Understanding our reason for being is the path to a fulfilled life.
We understand our purpose when we connect with our Creator and when we stay connected with the God of the Universe, we don’t cave in when disaster strikes.

when we remain close to Him
When we remain close to Him, God navigates us safely through each storm, gently whispering….
“My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.”
So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me. So I’m not defeated by my weakness, but delighted! For when I feel my weakness and endure mistreatment—when I’m surrounded with troubles on every side and face persecution because of my love for Christ—I am made yet stronger. For my weakness becomes a portal to God’s power. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge!
You’re a proven help in time of trouble—
More than enough and always available whenever I need you.
So we will never fear even if every structure of support were to crumble away.
We will not fear even when the earth quakes and shakes,
moving mountains and casting them into the sea.
For the raging roar of stormy winds and crashing waves cannot erode our faith in you.

God has a constantly flowing river whose sparkling streams
bring joy and delight to his people.
His river flows right through the city of God Most High,
into his holy dwelling places.
God is in the midst of his city, secure and never shaken.
At daybreak his help will be seen with the appearing of the dawn.
When the nations are in uproar with their tottering kingdoms,
God simply raises his voice
and the earth begins to disintegrate before him.
Here he comes!
The Commander!
The mighty Lord of Angel Armies is on our side.
The God of Jacob fights for us!

Everyone look!
Come and see the breathtaking wonders of our God. For He brings both ruin and revival.
He’s the one who makes conflicts end throughout the earth, breaking and burning every weapon of war.
Surrender your anxiety!
Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God.
I am the God above all the nations, and I will be exalted throughout the whole earth.
Here he stands! The Commander!
The mighty Lord of Angel Armies is on our side!
The God of Jacob fights for us! (Pause in his presence) Psalm 46 TPT

Life in Christ isn’t promised to be trouble-free, but brings peace amidst our struggles.
And this love that I experience is also waiting for you. Just ask!
