Worry... or Rest.

How does worry begin? The very first place the devil gets you is in your head, shooting thoughts into our mind, because when we loose our rest we loose our perspective! God wants us to have hot hearts and cool heads.

He wants us to cast all our cares on Him!

Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you. Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you. 1 Peter 5:7

Although He always leaves the choice up to us, He asks us to cast all our cares on Him because its the process we must go through to become humble, to be the person He wants us to be. Humility is qood, however holding onto our cares is the same as saying to God “I’m better at holding onto these than you are.”

It takes courage to come under His care, but to move towards the person God wants us to be we must do what He asks without expecting to be noticed. When you’re prepared to do whatever it takes for God you may be looked down on and discouraged by the ones who are supposed to have your back, causing you to be discouraged but there’s no need to be stressed about anything.

We are told to get rid of our stress, to cast it down.

To cast means: To throw in a forceful manner in a specified direction. To hurl. Different to a toss. To throw in a way you would someone overboard.

The only other account of this word in the Bible where they cast their coats on the donkey – “Luke 19:30-48”https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+19%3A30-48&version=MSG

Jesus wants us to give them to Him so he can prove how much He cares for you. God goes before us.

Listen to me and answer me; I am restless and distraught in my complaint and distracted Psalm 55:2

Even to your old age I am He, And even to your advanced old age I will carry you!
I have made you, and I will carry you; Be assured I will carry you and I will save you. Isaiah 46:4

How? By trusting that God will do what He promised. Just like Job who said:

“I know that You can do all things, And that no thought or purpose of Yours can be restrained.
Job 42:2

And Paul:

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

And John:

“If you only knew what a wonderful gift God has for you, and who I am, you would ask me for some living water!” John 4:10

God’s message to Isaiah is the same message to us:

Fear not, for I am with you.
Do not be dismayed.
I am your God.
I will strengthen you;
I will help you;
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10

To him be all power over all things, forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 5:7-11
