Why Are You Here?
When I purchase something technical I usually try to figure out how to work it my own and often I get away with it, but there are times when I have to resort to the manual to work out what I’m doing.
It’s the same with life. We can function without God but when trouble comes we soon realise how finite we are and how much we don’t understand but God hasn’t left us with no way out.
God created us with intelligence enough to reason what we should do to live a life of success and He left us 10 commandments, instructions to live by and He made a way for us to be freed from our mistakes when He died on the Cross to bring us forgiveness and a new start in life.
God isn’t an old man in the sky with a big stick and a book of rules, watching to see if we make a mistake. Take a good look at what these commandments actually say. The first one is pretty significant. If we replace God at the centre of our life we can’t expect to fulfil our purpose.
God’s Word points us in the right direction, however it’s our choice what we do about that information.
There is something special about each one of us that makes us unique, each gifted in such a way that we can excel above others when our life is in God’s hands. What is God’s dream for you?
When we die it isn’t the end! One day we will all stand before God and Jesus to give the reason for the choices we made, good and bad. Jesus longs for us to fit the plan we were created for so when we come to our end we can say…
This is the only race worth running. I’ve run hard right to the finish, believed all the way. All that’s left now is the shouting—God’s applause! Depend on it, he’s an honest judge. He’ll do right not only by me, but by everyone eager for his coming. 2 Timothy 4:8
The Living Bible puts " Timothy 4:8 this way…
In heaven a crown is waiting for me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that great day of his return. And not just to me but to all those whose lives show that they are eagerly looking forward to his coming back again.
Why does God sometimes not answer our prayer?
Delays to requests we make to God are because we aren’t mature enough to handle them yet, for example we won’t give the ones we love the keys to our car before you’re ready to drive because of the impending danger. And sometimes we need to go through a process of waiting and growing spiritually before the time is right for us to receive what we can see we need for the steps ahead.
How passionate are you for the things God has for you?
In this all-out match against sin, others have suffered far worse than you, to say nothing of what Jesus went through—all that bloodshed! So don’t feel sorry for yourselves. Or have you forgotten how good parents treat children, and that God regards you as his children?
My dear child, don’t shrug off God’s discipline, but don’t be crushed by it either.
It’s the child he loves that he disciplines; the child he embraces, he also corrects.
God is educating you; that’s why you must never drop out. He’s treating you as dear children. This trouble you’re in isn’t punishment; it’s training, the normal experience of children. Only irresponsible parents leave children to fend for themselves. Would you prefer an irresponsible God? We respect our own parents for training and not spoiling us, so why not embrace God’s training so we can truly live? While we were children, our parents did what seemed best to them. But God is doing what is best for us, training us to live God’s holy best. At the time, discipline isn’t much fun. It always feels like it’s going against the grain. Later, of course, it pays off handsomely, for it’s the well-trained who find themselves mature in their relationship with God. Hebrews 12:7-8
If we don’t move forward we choose to make ourselves illegitimate children, rejecting the grace God set before us.
What were you born to make right?
What moves you?
What is your holy discontent?
David had a sling shot, a stone and the power of God
Esther had a crown
Playing small doesn’t enlighten the world.
When life is lived intentionally some won’t like it, but don’t let shrink you back.
When we stay driven, weakness fear and tiredness die and strength power and hope are born.
Remove the obstacles. Start to speak about it.
