Begin...

Though it’s tempting to escape the realities of life, every morning we rise to face a new day.

We are often encouraged to seize the day…
Work towards a goal…
Start a 30-day challenge…
Exercise…
Help someone…
Start saving up for something that you’ve always wanted…
Do that “thing” you’ve been meaning to do…
Spend time with someone you love… It’s our choice to make.

But when the morning alarm goes off and we ask " Why am I even getting up for?" we are faced with a decision. We can sleep in and dream or we can rise up and activate those dreams!

I’ve learned from watching the sun rise every morning that mornings are incredibly important to God as each day begins and ends in glorious splendour. We don’t do anything to deserve these amazing sunrise displays but it’s hard to ignore God’s presence as He reminds us of His great love for us.

Even in His Word He reminds us that each new day can become a fresh start!

How enduring is God’s loyal love; the Eternal has inexhaustible compassion.
Here they are, every morning, new! Your faithfulness, God, is as broad as the day. Lamantations 3:22-23 in the VOICE version

So no matter what yesterday left behind, each day He promises that we can start again!
Begin each new day with God and you’ll be continually aware of His presence.

God delights in us noticing what He’s doing!
He patiently calling us to step up and begin that thing He’s asking us to do. From our perspective It may seem unimportant, but as we begin the picture of what’s ahead for us begins to infold.

The Bible gives guidance on how to acknowledge Him and put Him first in our day:

Praise him from sunrise to sunset! Psalm 113:3

Acknowledge Him always – Proverbs 3:5-6

Seek Him early in your day – Psalm 63:2-4

Cast your cares on Him – Psalm 55:22a

Joy comes in the morning – Psalm 30:5

And our Lord rejoice to see the work begin!“Zechariah 4:10”

So I say to myself its a new day!
Take time to ask God how He wants you to spend this day.
Then watch as He transforms your life and the world around you!

A poetic song for thanksgiving from The Passion Translation
Lift up a great shout of joy to the Lord!
Go ahead and do it—everyone, everywhere!
As you serve him, be glad and worship him.
Sing your way into his presence with joy!
And realize what this really means—
we have the privilege of worshiping the Lord our God.
For he is our Creator and we belong to him.
We are the people of his pleasure.
You can pass through his open gates with the password of praise.
Come right into his presence with thanksgiving.
Come bring your thank offering to him
and affectionately bless his beautiful name!
For the Lord is always good and ready to receive you.
