I want to introduce you to Wanda Gavin, a friend I met on Facebook.

Here Wanda shares how old wounds resurfaced after watching a video about a girl who was faced with the impossible choice of whether to keep her unborn baby.

Heartbreak, hope and healing: A Young Mother’s Adoption Story:

Wanda, who was also told she could not keep her baby writes:
Oh my gosh…how I cried at seeing this video…

In the 70’s in IL. you could not keep your child…
I got pregnant at 16 and after being stood up at the altar, my parents threw me in the unwed Mother’s home…that is what the state insisted on.

You could not just keep your baby. You had to give it up, then at 18 if the court found you worthy you could petition to get the child back.

The home was not a nice place and did not treat us well, not to mention the verbal abuse we endured. And they would bother us about signing papers to give up custody. While other girls though older were not having any problem with handing over the kid…I WAS….I swore by all that I’d NEVER give my baby away..

For 5 long months, I fought them. All I knew was I had been given away for money at 3 days old and I was not about to let my baby go.

Finally the Dad and I were married, I would have done anything to keep my child..and so it is..God let me have him! For that I am truly thankful and most grateful. Wanda

Wow Wanda, thank you for sharing your story.

Statistics prove that 98% of what we fear never happens so what may seem impossible right now may not be and thankfully this ’Can’t keep your baby" rule no longer applies, but if this has brought a tear to your eyes through experiencing a similar loss or if you’ve recently found yourself pregnant and you’re wondering what to do right now I pray that God will give you wisdom and peace in the days ahead because a life lived without regrets is a life truly blessed.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
