About Heaven...

Looking back on the events of 2020 we understand that we can’t know for sure what will come next.

And yesterday some with much of their life ahead of them quite suddenly were confronted with their demise and little time to think about where they are going next. When someone we love dies we’re reminded again of our own frailty.

Tomorrow is promised to no-one.

How do your thoughts of death make you feel?
Are you one who worries about death? Are you sure you are going to heaven when your time comes?

It’s not a popular subject to think about, but, what we believe about the afterlife will either install within us a sense of fear or a sense of peace. Are you confident of what will come next?

We’ve heard on the news this week of young ones who sadly lost their lives after mistakenly believing they’d be safe to drive through flood waters.

We never know when our time will be up.
Whether we choose to think about it or not, wishing to be in heaven won’t make it so. Our conscience, that deep still voice inside already confirms to us whether or not we’re going to heaven. If you doubt that you’ll qualify for the Pearly Gates and want to know more, read on.

Believing in God breeds confidence no matter what comes our way, and there’s nothing like the peace of God. This has been proven in my own life when my father died and God provided peace that makes no sense in the midst of such a sad event.

But what if we don’t believe in God? Do you want entry into heaven? It’s a matter of choice.
Unbelief will only breed fear, however it is possible to know for sure where we’ll go after we take our last breath.

Jesus says:
“I assure you, unless you are born again, you can never see the Kingdom of God”.
What does that even mean? Nicodemus asked…
“How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?”

Jesus replied,
“The truth is, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.
Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new life from heaven. So don’t be surprised at my statement that you must be born again. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.”

Again Nicodemus asked: “What do you mean?”

Jesus replied, "You are a respected Jewish teacher, and yet you don’t understand these things? I assure you, I am telling you what we know and have seen, and yet you won’t believe us. But if you don’t even believe me when I tell you about things that happen here on earth, how can you possibly believe if I tell you what is going on in heaven?

Jesus actually predicted His crucifixion as the reason why He came here to earth and His prediction came true.

The following words are of Jesus explaining the reason He will die on a cross…

For only I, the Son of Man, have come to earth and will return to heaven again. And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so I, the Son of Man, must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in me will have eternal life." Jesus continued, “With all the earnestness I possess I tell you this:
Unless you are born again, you can never get into the Kingdom of God.” John 3:3

There is salvation in no one else!
God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. John 17:3

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 1 John 5:4

They replied, “So what should we do if we want to do God’s work?”
Jesus answered, “The work you can do for God starts with believing in the One He has sent.” John 6:28-29

Later on, after John the Baptizer was arrested, Jesus went back into the region of Galilee and preached the wonderful gospel of God’s kingdom. His message was this: “At last the fulfilment of the age has come!
It is time for God’s kingdom to be experienced in its fullness!Turn your lives back to God and put your trust in the hope-filled gospel!” Mark 1:14-15 TPT

Jesus explained, “I am the Way, I am the Truth, and I am the Life. No one comes next to the Father except through union with me. To know me is to know my Father too. And from now on you will realise that you have seen him and experienced him.” John 14:6

And what is God’s “living message”? It is the revelation of faith for salvation, which is the message that we preach. For if you publicly declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will experience salvation. Romans 10:9

For sin’s meager wages is death, but God’s lavish gift is life eternal, found in your union with our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. Romans 6:23 TPT

For here is the way God loved the world—he gave his only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life. John 3:16

Following is a love letter from the One who knows you, who loves you and who longs to walk beside you to guide you and to keep you safe from harm:

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Matthew 6:25-34 TPT
