Mirror Reflections

As I sat at the waters edge after editing this morning’s sunrise images, the sun’s light sparkled like diamonds across the top of each tiny ripple on the water catching my eye.

Then I got to wondering how our world would be if reflections weren’t a part of creation. I always look for the still surface of a lake at sunrise because I know it will bring a mirror image, doubling the beauty of the sunrise.

Then I thought of how a mirror reflects our image back to us. Some have said they haven’t looked in the mirror for a long time because of wrong choices they’ve made and the guilt those choices have brought, they don’t have any desire to see themselves.

But then I got to thinking about the unfailing love of Jesus freely offered to us. He doesn’t condemn us for our mistakes even though He knows all about them. He’s waiting with open arms to welcome us if we’ll allow Him give us a new start.

There’s nothing we have to do but accept Him as our saviour. No-one is ‘good enough’ to receive His love and there’s nothing we’ve done that could ever disqualify us – there’s nothing we could ever do to deserve His love but there He is waiting patiently for our response.

But if we don’t understand everything, is it worth discarding what God offers? The Bible promises:
We can see and understand only a little about God now, as if we were peering at his reflection in a poor mirror; but someday we are going to see him in his completeness, face-to-face. Now all that I know is hazy and blurred, but then I will see everything clearly, just as clearly as God sees into my heart right now. 1 Corinthians 13:12

This is what His Word promises us if we accept Him:

Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like. But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God – the free life even out of the corner of his eye and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action. James 1:23-25 MSG

In the Bible, the Old Testament says this about God:
Since before time began no one has ever imagined, no ear heard, no eye seen, another God who works for those who wait for him. Isaiah 64:4 MSG

And again in the New Testament:
As it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV

I love how He operates! God reminded me this morning of His amazing love so I could tell you of His love for you. To be completely forgiven with a brand new life ahead, wild horses couldn’t hold me back because nothing this world has to offer me will ever compete with the future I have as a child of God! I don’t know you but I do know that’s worth passing on to you..

Please share this message with those you love!
