How My Broken Bottle Revealed the Depth of God's Love For Me!

Many times in my life, God has demonstrated how much He cares about everything I need! Isaiah 55 says He even cares about my heart’s desires. Following is the account of one of those days…

I love opals, it’s said they are my birth stone.
I’d purchased when visiting Lightning Ridge Opal Fields. I loved this little container of opal fragments that shone brilliant opal colours in the sunlight but sadly I accidentally broke this tiny glass bottle and the solution they’d been floating in drained away. Now these sparkling opal fragments looked dry and lifeless and I had no way to put them on display.

So I went out searching for a replacement but alhough I searched I couldn’t find one but I didn’t give up my search.

Much later I found the bottle I’d been looking for in two different sizes at a gift store in Byron Bay. I decided to purchase the larger one to put my opal fragments in but as we continued on our journey towards home I wished I’d chosen the smaller one.

Now you may be thinking ’Why would she even care about something so insignificant?"
But God cares….

Weeks later I was walking along the beach and what caught my eye was the exact same bottle I wished I’d purchased, filled with sand and partially covered. It’s in this picture just as I found it. Can you see it?

The odds of finding this tiny bottle on such a long beach are impossible but I found it!! If I’d walked slightly left or right I would have missed it. If someone stepped on it or the waves covered it over it would have been gone but as I walked across the sand looking for the first hint of sunrise something made me look down and there it was at my feet.

Was this a coincidence, I know it wasn’t. God knew my heart’s desire even after I’d forgotten about it and now I had the perfect display bottle for my opals again.

My life is filled with ‘coincidences’ and nothing surprises me where God’s provision is concerned. That’s what happens when you move aside and give God permission to take control of you. He cares about every detail, He knows your heart’s because He knows you intimately.

I’ve seen God provide for me all through my life and He’s never once let me down.

Here are some of the things His promises:

What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things but…

Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. "Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. Matthew 6:31-34 From the Message Bible

So if you, even though you are bad, know how to give your children gifts that are good, how much more will your Father in heaven keep giving good things to those who keep asking him! Matthew 7:11 From the Complete Jewish Bible

Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the one who will keep you on track. Proverbs 3:5-6 from the Message Bible

Update:
I searched Google for the Bible verse that said God gives us our hearts desire and couldn’t find it…but then I picked up my Bible and opened it looking for something to read and there was the exact page. I desired more examples of how God keeps His promise to supply my every need. Here are the extra verses I found:

Trust in the LORD and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
And here is the secret to getting God’s attention…

TAKE DELIGHT IN THE LORD and he will give you your heart’s desires. Psalm 37:3-4 NLT

KEEP ON AKSING and you will be given what you ask for. KEEP ON LOOKING and you will find. KEEP ON KNOCKING and the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7 NLT

Jesus said in His Word,
“I am the Bread of Life. The person who aligns with me hungers no more and thirsts no more, ever. John 6:32-35 MSG

That’s how much He loves us!
