I Can Only Imagine...

Imagine what it would be like to stand face to face with the One who made us! One day, the Bible says, we are all going to bow before Jesus.

“I have sworn by my own name,Jesus said; I have spoken the truth, and I will never go back on my word: Isaiah 45:23 NIV

We are all going to stand before the Throne of Heaven one day.
Jesus will return without warning, in the blink of an eye. No-one knows when He will return, just that His return is imminent.

Here is a description from the Bible says about what The Throne in Heaven will look like but it sounds amazing!

1 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” 2 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. 4 Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. 6 Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.
In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:

“‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,’
who was, and is, and is to come.”

9 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:

11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.” from Revelation 4 NIV Bible

Those who are still alive when Jesus returns will either be caught up to meet Him in the air or be left to witness those who accepted Him depart to be with Him.

If you are one who will witness others leaving, this will not be your last chance to accept Him.
For the following seven years of peril there will again be a call for you to join those who have already departed this earth to be with Jesus, but this will be a time of great trial such as never seen before.

If at the time when Jesus returns for His followers you are already in the grave, according to the Word of God, there will be no more chance for you to change your mind and follow Jesus.

For God says, “Your cry came to me at a favorable time, when the doors of welcome were wide open. I helped you on a day when salvation was being offered.” Right now God is ready to welcome you. Today he is ready to save you. 2 Corinthians 6:2 NLT

And just as human beings are destined to die but once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to take away the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to bring salvation to those who are eagerly waiting for him.
From Hebrews 9:27-28 – New Catholic Bible

Our disbelief in what the Bible says about us and our destiny has no baring on truth.
Whether we believe and accept God’s Word or whether we reject it, the Bible says that EVERY KNEE WILL BOW before God’s Throne and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. No-one will be left out.

This declaration is not just for the living, it includes all who are already in the grave. We will all have to give an account of how we lived our life and what we decided about Jesus.

I can’t know what it’s going to be like to stand before the King of Kings when He returns, but I look forward with great expectancy to the day when Jesus returns for me!

If I’ve already died before Jesus returns I won’t miss out because being one of His followers ensures that in death I am just asleep and I will return with Jesus when He comes because He always keeps a promise!

This moving song sums up my thoughts on what it will be like, but I can only imagine…

Seek God’s guidance as you step forward into tomorrow and if you listen to His divine counsel and do what He tells you, you will learn how very real the love of God is.
