Religion Verses Truth

Religion is man’s search for God! Are you searching for truth?
Most religious followers believe that theirs is the only true religion but can they all be right?
Are you being deceived or is the journey you are on the path to truth?

Think about what you believe about life, why you’re here. We are all branches of the same family, with the same desire to understand our roots. Some believe there are many paths to God, but just like family heritage with one truth about where we originated, there is only one truth about God. Seeking for truth can take us down a side path leading nowhere, we’ve all been there, so how do we know for sure that we’re on the right track?

Is the one you follow leading you to the truth?

These men of wisdom who many follow as truth concluded that they weren’t the one with the answers.

There was one though, who made outrageous claims about Himself and us, standing by them though it would lead to His death at the hands of the local religious leaders who also found Him offensive. I wonder if I’d also have been one who mocked Him if I had total faith in my religion when He began to say such things as this:

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6. a very confident statement…

He also said:
Jesus replied, “Don’t you even yet know who I am, Philip, even after all this time I have been with you? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking to see him? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I say are not my own but are from my Father who lives in me. And he does his work through me. Just believe it—that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or else believe it because of the mighty miracles you have seen me do.

“In solemn truth I tell you, anyone believing in me shall do the same miracles I have done, and even greater ones because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask him for anything, using my name, and I will do it, for this will bring praise to the Father because of what I, the Son, will do for you. John 14:9-14 TLB

These claims made him stand out from other wise men, but there is more…

Death couldn’t keep Him in the grave! Jesus rose from the grave and was seen by many who knew Him, even those who were skeptical at His appearing, and hundreds watched him as He ascended into heaven. So although His life here on earth is a fact of history, there is no grave where we can visit – He was no longer there when his followers came to grieve for Him.

Many now believe we don’t need religion because the truth is inside us and we just have to find it, but when death comes as must, will our graves of those who accept this as truth be empty?

There’s only one truth because He paid the price to save us and we know from history that these facts about Jesus are the truth. How He healed the sick, raised the dead, came to earth to save us. Why would someone agree to such mocking and sacrifice if what He said about Himself was never to come to pass?

So Jesus’ arrival, teachings, death and resurrection compels us to make a decision, to believe that Jesus is the son of God or not. We can’t just sit on the fence. By dismissing this information and not making a choice, we’ve already rejected Jesus, the only truth.
