Is the Bible God's Word?

Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. The LORD God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” Genesis 2:15-17

Some people believe that God wasn’t actually talking about a fruit tree but some other forbidden fruit, but that leaves more questions than answers. If we don’t believe it was literally a tree of the knowledge of good and evil, why do we believe they were actually in a garden?

My relationship with God has taught me that He doesn’t hint at things He wants us to know, He makes sure I understand Him, it’s a relationship of trust and faith. when I begin to change things to my understanding I’m stepping away from what He wants of me. All was happy in the Garden of Eden until because of Adam and Eve’s temptation, we received the knowledge of good and evil.

To second guess the Bible opens the way for us to lower the standard of God’s Word to our level of understanding or to political correctness and we can also raise the standards of our beliefs above the standard of His Word. But the Bible says this about God:

How great are his riches and wisdom and knowledge and how impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his methods! Romans 11:33 NLT

God has all the understanding, we only see what we understand from our own experiences and to bring our own interpretation only brings more questions. The Bible isn’t meant to be interpreted by our mindsets and logic. And to accept literally what it says always brings peace and direction. We can argue with it, but why?

The Bible tells us: Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another – showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. 2 Timothy 3:16 MSG

It pulsates with life and power. It cuts right to the place where we need it and wields mountain-moving power …. if we’ll let it.

God’s Word has a life of its own. It is the voice of God to us. All we need to do is open the pages and begin to read. If you’ve never opened a Bible before, click here as John begins by speaking about the authority of Jesus
