I Tried God Once But...

My relationship with God is so real that someone saying God doesn’t work puts me into confusion. What would make someone believe God doesn’t work?

Is this a conclusion you have come to?
Have you tried to get close to God and it hasn’t worked?

I know when I made my first commitment it was because preferred to go to heaven rather than hell. But this kind of ‘christian’ insurance policy, although it sounds like a good idea, has no substance.

Have you decided you did something for God and He didn’t answer your prayers so you thought it was all a waste of time?

When we go to work we rightly expect payment to what we’ve done, however Jesus already paid with His live for us – there’s nothing more we can do to earn His love or approval. We don’t deserve payment for anything, we just need to accept His free offer of sacrifice for us. We cannot buy righteousness. It’s by believing with our heart that we get a connection with God.

Reasoning with our mind won’t ever give us a God connection.

Unless you accept God’s kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you’ll never get in.” Mark 10:15
We must submit to Him in simple faith, to be set free. Not understanding this will result in some saying that Christianity doesn’t work. God never promises us that He is at our beck and call and will jump to give us what we want when we want.

Romans 10

Jesus paid the price for our obedience – the price we pay is that God get’s all the glory.

There’s no other way…

We are designed to live in relationship with and dependence on another.
Until we see ourselves as completely sinful and in need of Jesus who died to free us from ourselves, we aren’t a child of God and will not be assured a place with Him in heaven. Real conversion comes when we see our need of Jesus and let Him begin to change us. We take on the ownership of God and do what He wants, allowing Him to mould us into the kind of person that honours and serves Him.

“I don’t have time. I can slip in a prayer now and then, but I really can’t commit to Bible study, or even church.” …
Terri was so busy that she didn’t have time to spare for God. When times got tough, she couldn’t understand why her faith didn’t do her more good. Unfortunately, faith will not do more for a person than that person allows it to. We benefit from our faith in proportion to how much we are willing to put in. God is waiting to spend time with us, to help us develop our faith. Seek Him with your whole heart, and He will richly bless you.

The Bible says:
You’re blessed when you stay on course,
walking steadily on the road revealed by God.
You’re blessed when you follow his directions,
doing your best to find him.
That’s right—you don’t go off on your own;
you walk straight along the road he set.
You, God, prescribed the right way to live;
now you expect us to live it.
Oh, that my steps might be steady,
keeping to the course you set;
Then I’d never have any regrets
in comparing my life with your counsel.
I thank you for speaking straight from your heart;
I learn the pattern of your righteous ways.
I’m going to do what you tell me to do;
don’t ever walk off and leave me.
Blessed are those who wholeheartedly search for him.
Psalm 119:2-8

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

The just shall live by faith – why?
To open their eyes to their true condition so that they may repent and live in the light of God instead of in Satan’s darkness, so that they may receive forgiveness for their sins and God’s inheritance along with all people everywhere whose sins are cleansed away, who are set apart by faith in me.’ Acts 26:18

But let us who live in the light keep sober, protected by the armour of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the happy hope of salvation. 1 Thessalonians 5:8

And those whose faith has made them good in God’s sight must live by faith, trusting him in everything. Otherwise, if they shrink back, God will have no pleasure in them. Hebrews 10:38

I am fully aware that you live in the city where Satan’s throne is, at the center of satanic worship; and yet you have remained loyal to me and refused to deny me even when Antipas, my faithful witness, was martyred among you by Satan’s devotees. Revelation 2:13
