Everyone goes to heaven, right?
It’s a comfort to think loved ones are close and watching over us after they die. But do we all go to heaven? Most would believe that a mass murder doesn’t deserve heaven, do you agree? Logic would have us all believe only good people get in and would we ever want to go to heaven if bad people were there?
So is living a good life enough to get us there? Is it even possible to always do the right thing? What are the entry conditions?
Evil forces work in us to convince us we don’t need to do anything but live a good live and we’ll to go to heaven, but we all know that no matter how much we try to be good, we can’t.
Why deciding to be good doesn’t work…
What I don’t understand about myself is that I decide one way, but then I act another, doing things I absolutely despise. So if I can’t be trusted to figure out what is best for myself and then do it, it becomes obvious that God’s command is necessary. But I need something more! For if I know the law but still can’t keep it, and if the power of sin within me keeps sabotaging my best intentions, I obviously need help!
I realise that I don’t have what it takes. I can will it, but I can’t do it. I decide to do good, but I don’t really do it; I decide not to do bad, but then I do it anyway. My decisions, such as they are, don’t result in actions. Something has gone wrong deep within me and gets the better of me every time.
It happens so regularly that it’s predictable. The moment I decide to do good, sin is there to trip me up. I truly delight in God’s commands, but it’s pretty obvious that not all of me joins in that delight.
Parts of me covertly rebel and just when I least expect it, they take charge.
I’ve tried everything and nothing helps. I’m at the end of my rope. Is there no one who can do anything for me? Isn’t that the real question?
The answer, thank God, is that Jesus Christ can and does. He acted to set things right in this life of contradictions where I want to serve God with all my heart and mind, but am pulled by the influence of sin to do something totally different. From The Message Bible in Romans 7:15-25
Thankfully God understands this about us and doesn’t ask us to jump through hoops for Him to get His approval. And thats why He send Jesus, to pay the price for our wrong doing so we could receive forgiveness and live the life we’re destined to live.
Here are Bible verses explaining there’s only one God -
Mark 12:29 – Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: ’Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord.
Mark 12:32 -The teacher of religious law replied, "Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth by saying that there is only one God and no other.
John 1:18 – No one has ever seen God. But his only Son, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart; he has told us about him.
John 17:3 – And this is the way to have eternal life — to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
Romans 3:30 – There is only one God, and there is only one way of being accepted by him. He makes people right with himself only by faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles.
1 Corinthians 8:4 – Should we eat meat that has been sacrificed to idols? Well, we all know that an idol is not really a god and that there is only one God and no other.
Ephesians 4:6 – and there is only one God and Father, who is over us all and in us all and living through us all.
And there’s only one way to get to God, Through Jesus.
1 Corinthians 8:6 – But we know that there is only one God, the Father, who created everything, and we exist for him. And there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom we have been given life.
1 Timothy 2:5 – For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people. He is the man Christ Jesus.
Hebrews 2:10 – And it was only right that God — who made everything and for whom everything was made — should bring his many children into glory. Through the suffering of Jesus, God made him a perfect leader, one fit to bring them into their salvation.
There is salvation in no one else!
There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them." Acts 4:12
Accepting Jesus is a simple step but its ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY if we want to spend eternity in heaven with God.
Because we can only understand our destiny from the information we’ve been given, here’s what the Bible, the infallible Word of God, says to you…
According to the Bible, heaven isn’t open to us unless we have a personal relationship with Jesus, who died on the cross to make a way for us to find forgiveness for our sins – forgiveness is the only way to heaven. If we’ve never asked God to forgive us for all we’ve done wrong then we are living in sin and without the righteousness of God we cannot enter into heaven.
ONLY JESUS can turn a mess into a message, a test into a testimony, a trial into a triumph and offer victims absolute victory.
