A God Who Comforts

When explaining God to a girl who’d suffered lifelong abuse at the hands of her parents and other ‘dads’ that came into her life she said… “Oh #@!%! If God wants to be my father I’m totally screwed!” And after a life she’d of abuse I could understand why she’d react that way.

The thought of God becoming your heavenly father might also conjure up all sorts of bad thoughts if your own father was less than what you needed him to be, so why should you allow God to become your heavenly father?

Satan’s done a great job in discrediting fatherhood so we will never turn to God as our father, but consider this, God’s love letter to us…

So what makes God’s love so special?

God’s love isn’t based on what you’ve done!

Our earthly father’s love is based on what we do, but God loves us based on who He is God loves us like we are his ONLY child!

God makes everything come out right;
he puts victims back on their feet. Psalm 103:6-18 NLT

Unlike our earthly father, God knows you intimately

Lord, you know everything there is to know about me.
You perceive every movement of my heart and soul,
and you understand my every thought before it even enters my mind.
You are so intimately aware of me, Lord.
You read my heart like an open book
and you know all the words I’m about to speak
before I even start a sentence! Psalm 139 TPT

There’s no need to earn His love -

You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside
and my intricate outside,
and wove them all together in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex!
Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking.
It simply amazes me to think about it!
How thoroughly you know me, Lord! Psalm 139:13-14 TPT

And he pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail – even numbering the hairs on your head! So don’t be intimidated by all this bully talk. You’re worth more than a million canaries. Luke 12:7

He’s the only one who will ever know you completely -

When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen Jeremiah 29:12 MSG

We will never be perfect but there is one who will never disappoint!

His love for you is endless.

You send rain on the mountains from your heavenly home, and you fill the earth with the fruit of your labor. You cause grass to grow for the cattle. You cause plants to grow for people to use. You allow them to produce food from the earth . Psalm 104:13-15 MSG

Every one depends on you to give them their food as they need it. When you supply it, they gather it. You open your hand to feed them, and they are satisfied. Psalm 104:27-28 MSG

Nothing goes unnoticed by Him.

Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. Matthew 10:29 MSG

His love has no limits.

Earthly fathers have their limits where their children are concerned ….But nothing is too hard for Him.

Many will tell you they’re your loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly trustworthy? Proverbs 20:6 TPT

Perfect Love never stops loving.It extends beyond the gift of prophecy, which eventually fades away. It is more enduring than tongues, which will one day fall silent. Love remains long after words of knowledge are forgotten. 1 Corinthians 13:8 TPT

He even left a ‘how to’ plan so fathers can live a God-filled life:

Character Consistent with Godliness
Your duty is to teach them to embrace a lifestyle that is consistent with sound doctrine. 2 Lead the male elders[a] into disciplined lives full of dignity and self-control. Urge them to have a solid faith, generous love, and patient endurance. Titus 2:1-2 TPT
