Where Will You Spend Eternity?

Spiritual channellers profess hear from the dead with ‘knowledge’ of past lives. Some profess to near death experiences where they received a revelation that the Bible are all wrong.

But Jesus says He is the Only way, know Him and live but It’s possible to believe in Jesus and not actually believe him.

The Bible in Luke 16 gives an account of two men who died and found themselves in 2 different destinations but that were interconnecting. Click here to read the story – There once was a rich man

So who should I believe?

In this story, the rich man lived for himself with no thought of others. If it feels good do it – I did it my way are popular beliefs these days but will just living a good life mean you are destined for an eternity in heaven?

When someone we love dies, we believe because we love them that they are watching over us from heaven, speaking to us from the grave, we want to believe this because it brings comfort but is any of it true?

The thought that we can decide to just live a good life, not hurt anyone will give us a ticket into heaven sits comfortably with us because it involves nothing but a selfish desire to live as we please. How can doing our own thing determine our destiny?

Pleasing ourselves hurtles us into an eternity in hell, but to put our selfishness aside and live to please God promises to give us an eternity in heaven with the God who created us and Jesus who died to give us the way out of our mess with forgiveness for our wrongs and love, peace and security with heaven as our destination.

That kind of destination required Jesus to die even though he was innocent of any crime, so He could take on our wrongs and bring forgiveness for us. Just to ‘live a good life’ brings no effort, no sacrifice and its a lie from the pit of hell to keep you from going to heaven, no matter what someone might tell you.

Hades is divided into two sections, the bosom of Abraham and the place of torment. Both men described in Luke were conscious.

He called out, ‘Father Abraham, mercy! Have mercy! Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water to cool my tongue. I’m in agony in this fire.’

Here is more from the Bible:
Flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These perishable bodies of ours are not able to live forever. Read why here

These two places were in contrast to each other. Not only was the rich man in mental, emotional and physical torment, he was also sick with worry over the family he had left behind and hoped they could be warned about their similar fate if they didn’t change their ways.

When someone commits suicide believing their trouble will be over it makes me so sad because ending it all doesn’t end it all and guarantees eternity with multiplied sorrow. Jesus died to bring freedom and there’s no other way to heaven without Jesus. And after death it’s too late to change your mind.

The one who followed Jesus was carried by the angels to the feet of Jesus when he died, he had no regret from living the way God asked him to.

So you need to ask yourself if all this information is false or true? Where will I spend eternity? You can be absolutely sure right now. Only Jesus can offer forgiveness for your past no matter how bad you’ve been and eternity in heaven with much reward.

Jesus says: I will give you singleness of heart and put a new spirit within you. I will take away your hearts of stone and give you tender hearts instead. Ezekiel 11:19

The very best person will never be good enough and if we’re honest we all know we’re not that good. Only by Jesus sacrifice are we made good enough to enter into heaven and we need to accept that we need Him and stop trying to live our lives for ourselves to take advantage of all He promises.
