When The Party's Over...
How would you handle it if something unexpected happened that changed the way you lived? A sink hole or an earthquake may never happen but what about a car wreck that took the life of someone close to you or left you in a wheel chair? It’s not something we like to think about but we only need to turn on the news to see how in the blink of an eye, everything can change. The certainty is that nothing will remain the same, so how do thoughts like that make you feel?
One morning I found this log with hundreds of tiny sea creatures on it that sway back and forth in the waves beached and already baking in the sun. I was taken with their beauty as they hung on this log. I felt sad and I wanted to save them so I got them back in the water but watched as the waves lapped against this log pushing it further onto dry land.
The next morning when I arrived at the beach to capture the rising sun, my first thought was for this log. Was it marooned or had it been washed back out to sea again at high tide? It wasn’t where I’d seen it yesterday abd I was happy until I discovered saw it further along the beach and sadly many of these tiny creatures that had trusted in the safety of this log had already baked in the sun.
Back to my first question, are you putting your trust in a firm foundation, something sure to remain no matter what you face, or are the things that move you most able to be taken from you without warning?
I would love to have been able to warn these beautiful sea creatures that they were in danger but there was no way I could communicate with them because I wasn’t one of their species so they were left to their fate. That’s why Jesus came to earth, He was God become man so we could learn of His love for us and His plan to save us. How else would we ever know God exists?
We needed to hear in the way we understand that there is a way of escape, that’s why Jesus who was present at the beginning of time became man and died on the cross to save us.
Choices we make in our life matter and determine our destiny. We never know when our end will come for tomorrow is promised to no man and the Bible says we will have to give an account, we will stand before God one day to explain every word, every action that wasn’t forgiven by the blood of Jesus!
“If anyone hears what I am saying and doesn’t take it seriously, I don’t reject him. I didn’t come to reject the world; I came to save the world. But you need to know that whoever puts me off, refusing to take in what I’m saying, is willfully choosing rejection. The Word, the Word-made-flesh that I have spoken and that I am, that Word and no other is the last word. I’m not making any of this up on my own. The Father who sent me gave me orders, told me what to say and how to say it. And I know exactly what his command produces: real and eternal life. That’s all I have to say. What the Father told me, I tell you.” John 12:48-50
Right now is all that matters, so before the sun sets on this day, do you know deep within you that you are destined for heaven? If the answer is no then you haven’t met the King of Kings yet. This is the kind of world God planned for us, this is how He wanted us to live – imagine a world like this…
I was hungry and you fed me,
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a room,
I was shivering and you gave me clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.’
‘Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?’ Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.’ Click here to read what the Bible says about those who haven’t lived to please Him in Matthew 25:35-
Living each day like there is no end won’t change what is to come. Today can be a turning point for you.
When the party’s over and your final day comes, if you have a relationship with this King of Kings, a future in heaven for you is certain and something to be eager for. Death is the beginning of eternity the way it was meant to be with no sickness, no evil, no sadness.
Only God knows what He has planned for us….Just as it is written “No eye has seen, no ear has heard and no one’s heart has imagined all the things that God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9
So stop running the other way. Accept His forgiveness and step into your true destiny with no fear of what tomorrow may bring!
