Is Suicide The End?

I woke to news reports of four young children becoming orphaned as their father killed his wife before turning the gun on himself! So many are affected by this tragedy without understanding why…

The biggest killer of men aged under 45 is suicide. In 2014 ,4623 took their own life. That’s 12 men everyday, 1 man every 12 hours! 41% of men who contemplated suicide felt they could not talk about their feelings. Andy Thomas

The possibility that if we die we won’t have to face our problems may possibly make suicide attractive, but does dying put an end to suffering?

This gift we’ve been given called life comes with responsibility and death is not the end of our journey according to The Bible.

And Jesus died to free us from our pain:
Jesus’ priesthood is permanent. He’s there from now to eternity to save everyone who comes to God through him, always on the job to speak up for them. Hebrews 7:25 MSG

But if we reject His offer of forgiveness and redemption:
Eventually God will bring everything that we do out into the open and judge it according to its hidden intent, whether it’s good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:14

As no wisdom, learning, virtue, wealth, or power, can keep one of the human race from death, so nothing can deliver a sinner from being condemned at the day of judgment, except the atoning sacrifice of Christ; nor will one be saved from eternal punishment who despises or neglects this great salvation. Matthew Henry

We can’t hide from God:
Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit?
to be out of your sight?
If I climb to the sky, you’re there!
If I go underground, you’re there!

If I flew on morning’s wings
to the far western horizon,
You’d find me in a minute—
you’re already there waiting!

Then I said to myself, “Oh, he even sees me in the dark!
At night I’m immersed in the light!”
It’s a fact: darkness isn’t dark to you;
night and day, darkness and light, they’re all the same to you. Psalm 139:7-12

Sooner or later we’ll all have to face God….
We will appear before Christ and take what’s coming to us as a result of our actions, either good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10

So what do we do?

“God overlooks it as long as you don’t know any better—but that time is past. The unknown is now known, and he’s calling for a radical life-change. He has set a day when the entire human race will be judged and everything set right. And he has already appointed the judge (Jesus), confirming him before everyone by raising him from the dead.” Acts 17:31

So don’t sit around on your hands! No more dragging your feet! Clear the path for long-distance runners so no one will trip and fall, so no one will step in a hole and sprain an ankle. Help each other out. And run for it! Hebrews 12:12

Seize life!

“When he finally arrives, blazing in beauty and all his angels with him, the Son of Man will take his place on his glorious throne. Then all the nations will be arranged before him and he will sort the people out, much as a shepherd sorts out sheep and goats, putting sheep to his right and goats to his left." Matthew 25:31

Christ died and rose again for this very purpose, so that He can be our Lord both while we live and when we die… Remember, each of us will stand personally before the Judgment Seat of God. For it is written, “As I live,” says the Lord, “every knee shall bow to me and every tongue confess to God.” Yes, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Romans 14:9-12

I can’t impress this on you too strongly. God is looking over your shoulder. Christ himself is the Judge, with the final say on everyone, living and dead. 2 Timothy 4:1

“See, the Lord is coming with millions of his holy ones. He will bring the people of the world before him in judgment, to receive just punishment and to prove the terrible things they have done in rebellion against God, revealing all they have said against him.” Jude 1:15

You can never please God without faith, without depending on him. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely look for him. Hebrews 11:6

Happy is the man who doesn’t give in and do wrong when he is tempted, for afterwards he will get as his reward the crown of life that God has promised those who love him. James 1:12

Man’s solution to problems in the mind is to encourage you to seek help, to talk to someone and while talking about your troubles is helpful, only Jesus can forgive you and lead you in the right direction.
