Why is Easter celebrated?
Observing Easter reminds us of one mans sacrifice. A sacrifice so significant that it gives a new start to every person who takes advantage and accepts Jesus as their personal saviour.
Here’s what the Bible says…
Through His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection to life again, Jesus offers a way for us to escape ourselves and turn over a new page, with hope and love that can’t even be comprehended.
Through His death on the cross and His resurrection (rising from death), Jesus now offers a way for us to escape from past mistakes and regrets, to step into a new life with hope and love so great it needs to be experienced to comprehend.
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and us, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all 1 Timothy 2:5-6
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Then came Sunday! He arose from the dead on the third day just like He said He would. No Prophet before Him or after Him has or will ever be able to atone for our sins, die and be raised from the dead and be the “ONLY” way to God and eternal life with Him! He’s the only one with an empty tomb and history records the many people who saw and spoke to Him after he came back to life.
Here’s how the Bible explains it…
Now, no one is likely to die for a good person, though someone might be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s judgment. For since we were restored to friendship with God by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be delivered from eternal punishment by his life. So now we can rejoice in our amazing new relationship with God — all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us in making us friends of God.
When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. And though there was no law to break, since it had not yet been given, they all died anyway — even though they did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. What a contrast between Adam and Christ, who was yet to come!
And what a difference between our sin and God’s generous gift of forgiveness.
For this one man, Adam, brought death to many through his sin….. But this other man, Jesus Christ, brought forgiveness to many through God’s bountiful gift. Romans 5:7-15
Thank you God for your indescribable gift, open to all who accept you as their Lord and Saviour – Amen.
